Happy Tuesday! In honor of Cinco de Mayo this week I took it back to one of my favorite days while on vacation in San Antonio. The day we bought mariachi sombreros and walked around the city’s Fiesta.

I received a few emails from followers that shared their love of our “Mine Me Mondays” and how it actually brightened their Mondays. These emails really made mine and my daughter’s day. They also asked a some questions so I figured I’d answer them here.

Why do you match your daughter?   Well some may already know my love of photos and some of my favorite photos/memories from childhood are matching with my little sister. Yes, my mother matched us exactly from head to toe for years. I also grew up playing sports and being a cheerleader which was another time of everyone wearing the same thing. I just really have always loved the sense of unity it brought. So when I found out I was having a girl I immediately wanted to do mommy & me outfits for as long as she would allow me.

How long have you been matching your daughter?   I have been matching with her since she was months old. About 4 years now. I don’t actually remember the exact month or day, sorry!

Do you find matching clothes from a certain store?   No, not really. Every now and then I do happen to be in a store and there just happens to be something in both our sizes so of course I buy them. For example, when shopping with my cousin the other day I found matching Fourth of July outfits for all three of us! For the most part we aren’t wearing the same exact clothes but rather same colors, styles, etc.

Do you plan on matching with your newest daughter too? In the beginning I did not plan on this but my daughter insisted that she match us so we tried and so far it has worked out here and there.  I like to joke that I have been promoted from “twinning” to “trippling”.

If you have granddaughter do you think you will match them? lol. Maybe? I don’t know depends on my daughters and of course my age!

Thank you again for the support and fun questions!

It’s day seven of the famous Fiesta here in San Antonio, Texas and we are enjoying the celebration. It has been a beautifully cultured experience for my little family. Last night we were serenaded by Mariachi bands at dinner. Many of you have experienced this but this was unique because the bands were on boats floating by on the river, known as the Ford Mariachi Festival.

You may least expect it when traveling but fashion is just a huge part of life even on vacation. I packed my bags with my own style but have been so inspired by the cultural fashion on this trip. The Mexican and Spanish sophistication here is so traditional and colorful that I have to endeavor by brightening up my wardrobe.

I have started with this Mariachi sombrero. It literally took me about an hour to decide on a color! To know me is to know that if I truly like something, I want it in every color. Guess what? I want one in every color, lol. This iconic hat is a statement piece in itself but with this shade of fuchsia it just pops that much more.

Have a great day,

Operation Prom

Dresses: Nordstrom Rack

Dresses: Nordstrom Rack

Good afternoon! Today I’ve partnered with my friend Melissa who started the Operation Prom Rescue. Melissa started this program because she saw a need and wanted to make a difference.

What is the need? Dresses! So many girls have been asked to go to prom but unfortunately cannot afford the dress or preporation to actually attend. This is how we can all help, yes, even you men! We need donations from gently used, new, loaner dresses, and even cash if you can ( we can even do the shopping for you!). We need make up artists, hair stylists and muscles to set up our pop up location too.

Who would have thought that donating formal dresses could make such a difference?! I am here to tell you that it does! This is exactly what I have done, I donated 7 of my own gently used formal dresses. However, after donating them something began stirring in my heart. I wasn’t satisfied with just donating used dresses. I wanted to bless a girl with the excitement of a new dressI set aside a budget and prayed to find that one new dress! There is only one store that I knew I stood a chance in accomplishing this challenge, Nordstrom Rack. Thanks to their red tag items I am elated to tell you that I found eight dresses for under $150! Yes, you read that right! So we are even willing to take cash donations to purchase more new discounted dresses!

Prom is one of the biggest traditions for American high schools and we as a community have the chance to meet a need. Every girl deserves to experience this “cinderella” night. More importantly they need to see what it really means to have a community come together in generosity and kindness. Would you please join us in making these girl’s night?

You can email me for more details using sundaysinstyle@yahoo.com. Thank you in advance!

Xoxo,

Happy New Year

Happy New Year! I have started the year off with a surprise baby moon getaway. I was not expecting this at all. However, I have to agree with my sweet and romantic husband. Time away for both of us to be pampered and catered to is a necessity before becoming a family of four, especially since that is going to be “any day now”.

Of course, knowing me my husband told me to pack something a little fancy. Now this is usually not a problem but when you are in your ninth month of expecting fancy is hard. However, thanks to Pink Blush Maternity it was no big deal. I knew exactly what to pack. When searching through their maternity clothes I found this top. I am a sucker for anything black but I”m even more of a sucker for anything sequins. So the combination of black with sequins elbows had me at hello. The holidays also known as “sequins season” may be officially over but this is not the case for me. It is always sequins season in my life. I couldn’t even go the first day of the year without a little sparkle, baby bump and all!

While baby moons and sequins tops have me like YAY, I am most excited for yet another year’s new beginnings through Jesus Christ! ” Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold the new things have come.” 2 Corinthians 5:17

Blessings to your New Year,

Danica
