Team Yellow

Dress: Nordstrom Rack | Wedges: Tory Burch

Y’all, it’s the start of a new week and I’m excited for this one! Our youth has their “camp” week, called Stamped. They have a fun filled week of worship, games, competitions and fellowship. You can read more and sign your kid up here. I have been asked to be one of the team captains and our team color is yellow.

I wore this yellow dress today to kick off my week full of yellow everything. So get ready to see how I will attempt to make yellow fun, comfortable but also stylish for this active and Jesus filled experience. There will be no mellow yellow here …

Lounging to the Maxi

Sunglasses: Marc Jacobs | Dress: Nordstrom Rack | Sandals: Target

Like why I did with the title there !? Seriously though wearing this maxi made lounging around that much better. This maxi dress is made of muslin material which is very light and breathable. This fabric is perfect for summer especially if you are going to brave the extra length. I love it so much that I bought it in three more colors!

We spent our first day in Colorado Springs at The Broadmoor Hotel. It is a beautiful five star hotel with all the luxuries you can imagine. It is nestled at the foot of the mountains which provide breathtaking views. My husband found so much joy watching how wowed us girls were. They really designed a hotel that compels you to breathe slower and truly relax. Relaxing after a twelve hour road trip was exactly what we needed. Time spent swimming, eating pastries and laughing was my favorite luxury of our stay here.

Graphic T-Shirt Truths

Sunglasses: Kate Spade | Shirt: Hope Outfitters | Dress: Nordstrom Rack | Shoes: Converse

Nothing is more comfortable to me then a dress. I’m probably annoying you all with how much I have said that but hugs! I love bodycon dresses but don’t always feel modest running errands wearing one so I put a t-shirt over it. I had a little more peace.

This is another purchase from Hope Outfitters and I love it! It’s a graphic tee that speaks volumes about my life. I am a daughter to the king of all kings! Believing this truth gives me so much more confidence than anything I can ever wear. Yet wearing this t-shirt reminds me whose I am and my purpose. I am overjoyed that buying this helped change a life and by wearing it I have the opportunity to share ( click here) the meaning. Want to help change a life and look stylish while doing it? Then head over to Hope Outfitters and pick a few things out. Save 10% by using my code : SUNDAYINSTYLE777 … cheers!

Lavender

Sunglasses: Kate Spade {Nordstrom Rack | Dress: Lush {Nordstrom Rack} | Rain Boots: Hunter {Nordstrom Rack}

Morning y’all! I couldn’t help myself and wear a lavender dress to a lavender farm. Cheesy I know but that me! For an easy Sunday look I would switch out the boots for a pair of heels and throw on a dash of bling via a necklace. However, today I wanted to share more about what I experience rather than what I wore.

Here is about my recent trip to Lavender Ridge Farms. Friday was my last day before leaving for a mission trip and I wanted to spend the day with my girls relaxing. It is a bit ironic that we chose a Lavender farm because Lavender essential oil is what we use to help our girls relax at night.

Our oldest daughter, Lyianna, is five years old and has been asking questions about Lavender. Since I didn’t know much about Lavender we decided to read about it together. When we can we go see what we are learning and this was the perfect opportunity. I was able to find a local Lavender farm and so we planned this trip!

Although Lavender is not in full bloom until July and August I thought this was a better opportunity to visit due to the increasing heat here. It is a little over an hour drive from Fort Worth, Texas. This was a perfect length of time for a good nap which made for a peaceful and quiet drive for us mommies (or daddies).

Once we arrived I rolled the window down to take a photo of the entrance signage and I could immediately smell the fresh Lavender. It was amazing. I felt relaxed just breathing it in. We were then greeted by an adorable dog who seemed to be leading us to the parking area, lol.

The parking and entrance to the farm is free! You pick a basket, a pair of scissors, and head out into the field to pick. As you can see in the pictures picking and placing the lavender into a basket was my daughters favorite part. I let her pick to her hearts desire and then we fit as much lavender as we could into a bunch that had to be tied with bread bag tie. Each bunch is only $8, so this is a great low-cost adventure.

We also enjoyed their Lavender café and tried an array of lavender flavored foods, drinks and desserts.  Our favorite was the Lavender Cheesecake! Once we were full and finished with touring the farm we supported this small business and purchased some Texas Lavender Honey and Lavender Vanilla soaps. Now we are ready for bath time!

Blessings,

Girls,

This trip wasn’t anything what we were expecting but it was good. After being thrust into the festivities of San Antonio and then the magic of Disneyworld we needed to rest. Rest and relaxation is exactly what this trip provided us.

As we drove into Corpus Christie it quickly became apparent just how much rest we were going to get. This city looked almost desolate! Even if there had been anything to do the weather was not permitting. Maybe this is why it may have been so dead? Anyways, with the combination of nothing to do and immanent weather we barely left the lodge. It was glorious. I will always cherish those sweet memories of having pajama parties, staying in bed all day. Boy can you sleep Lyianna just like your daddy. Camrielle, you seem to be more of a morning bird like me. Even with those early rises we both enjoyed napping over and over.

With all that sleep we did get restless on our last two days and daddy had us venture out. We explored the famous Padre Island. It was fun to drive the car right along the shore. Lyianna and daddy enjoyed the traditional sea shell hunt while Camrielle and I just watched. Even though it was overcast the ocean was soothing to listen to, feel and smell.

In staying on the water I knew to pack nautical ensembles. We didn’t really wear any except these and they matched. I will never pass up the opportunity to match girls. I absolutely love it!

I hope we go again one day when we need a place to be quiet and rest.

Girls, we are at it again. You both are currently knocked out on daddy’s lap and chest. You couldn’t stay awake any longer despite all of the beautiful scenery that is passing us by. I have to say that you two are little troopers. Today we have taken two flights, a car ride and now on a train that is making it’s way down the pacific west coast. I’m still needing to breastfeed you, Camrielle, so I chose this tank today. These days they actually call it a “muscle tank” but as you can see I do not have those, yet. So in our nine days home from the last vacation I went shopping with you and came upon this graphic tank. I laughed out loud so hard that I drew in a few curious stares but you weren’t embarrassed. In fact, you smiled right back at me. Thank you for that because as you know my laugh is not exactly petite and cute.

The tank says it all,  “more vacay”. We are on another vacation. A mini vacation you could say but non the less it is more allotted time away from home and with each other. I laughed at this tank simply because it was fitting but I bought it because it cost me only $7 with tax. Yeah go mom is right! It was perfect for breastfeeding you as it was loose, airy and a top layer. I paired it with these white skinny jeans and stylish sneakers. Ok fine yes they are maternity skinnies but hey I have you to thank for that and your dad’s infamous insistence for me to wear anything but heels.
Anyways I admit that I was quite comfortable in this ensemble. I will definitely do more casual looks if I can feel this fancy for being dressed down.
Love you girls,
Mom

A Thursday Walk

Good afternoon! I was asked how I lost weight so fast, other than breastfeeding, so here is a post on my answer. First, I lost my “I can eat whatever I want” pregnancy card and went back to my heathy diet, immediately. I can get into that more detailed in another post if you would like. Second, exercise. I began these exercising regiments seven weeks after I delivered my baby so I advise to wait until your doctor has cleared you. I do a Pilates class one morning (this helps build my core and flexibility back up) and personal training in boxing one evening each week ( this is my cardio since I can’t run yet). I then walk almost every day for at least thirty minutes with stretching before and after. I prefer to walk on the track near my house because it is better on my joints, especially with the fluctuating weight.  Lastly, I drink a ton of water, water is key ladies.

When it comes to working out I keep it simple with wardrobe. After all you are going to end up sweating and looking a hot mess! A tank and leggings plus comfy sneakers are my “go to”.

Enjoy getting back to fit,

d

Happy Sunday! Today I was in a very pink mood as you can see. I love a monochromatic look and this dress set the tone. I purchased this dress on sale for less than $17! It is made of light sweater material which made for a great transitional piece. It was very comfortable for an almost over winter day.

Thanks for reading,

Sunday Pastels

Welcome to Sunday everyone. Today I wore another complimenting postpartum ensemble. However, this look is definitely not breastfeeding friendly. I had to pick and choose my battles, hiding my shrinking belly won. I’m basically going to be dressing up in anything loose and flowy until I get back to my normal body weight. Can any other mommies attest to the struggle? All I can say is #momlife!

Motherhood is exactly why I started this blog. So many people have asked me in person or by email this last week and that is my answer ( note to self, change bio..). Being a mom is what led me to venture out into the blogging world but having a mom is where I fell in love with fashion. I grew up with a mother who would get dressed up for every occasion and boy did she look beautiful. I loved watching the process of her picking out something to wear, applying make up, fixing her hair, spraying herself with perfume and ultimately finishing the look with a pair of heels. It was the first time I can remember wanting to be beautiful just like her. Since then my mother has instilled in me the true meaning of beauty, thankfully.

My love for photography also came from my mother. I really enjoyed ( and still do ) looking back at photos of her when she was younger. I have so many great moments with my mother discussing why she wore certain clothes and styled her hair the ways she did. It has brought many laughs and tons of lectures too. I resolved very young to take many pictures so that one day my own future daughters could have the same moments with me. It is still surreal that my silly and very girly dream has become a reality.

A reality check is what I experienced most in my first year of motherhood, especially in the fashion aspect. I will never forget those early days of literally living in pajama pants and sport bras. I chose extra sleep over getting ready in any way. Eventually church became my motivation to get ready. Sundays became my days of style but really they became my day of rest.

I needed an outlet and blogging was perfect. I loved that I could encompass so many of my passions and bring them all together in one small spot of the world, Sundays in Style. I never thought my blog would grow as it has, bring forth new friendships, or the collaborations it has. I now believe it can become a platform for other passions of mine and I am truly grateful for this so Thank you to everyone who supports me in this facet of life!

God bless,

d

It’s “hump day”, meaning we are half way through the week folks so hang in there. I’m hanging in there for sure especially with days like today. I met up with some of my friends some who are also mothers and had a brunch play date. It was really nice to simultaneously take breaks from our own children because we were watching each other’s instead. Of course, the womanly adult conversation is always a refreshing blessing!

I love weather like today’s because it is perfect. I like to call it crisp weather. It felt just cool enough to throw on my leather Jacket but warm enough to wear this breezy asymmetrical top underneath. I chose this top because of the stretchy material that made it breastfeeding friendly. Owning a top like this is a must if you breastfeed and like to cover up while doing so. It eliminates your need for a cover. This style of top is also complimenting to that shrinking tummy because its price won’t create any bumps in your finances, check it out!

Have a great rest of the week!
