Sunday Tulle

Necklace: Bauble Bar | Top: Nordstrom Rack | Skirt: Windsor | Heels: Sara Jessica Parker | Purse: Michael Khors

Happy Sunday! I know I have been MIA for a bit (a long bit) and I can explain! First let me say thank you. Thank you to all who love and support me with constant encouragement of getting back on here. Thank you for your patience and understanding. I appreciate you.

Right before the holidays I took a trip to Georgia with my family who I don’t get to see often. We celebrated one of my little cousin’s Army boot camp graduation. It was a time full of pride, tears, hope and love. Being a military family I value time with loved ones much more than I did before. So this short and quick week together was really meaningful. I chose to put my phone away and focus on being in their presence. Well one week turned into the next once I got back home. Decidedly, I took a break from social media life.

Looking back now I realize how crucial that break was because life got so busy with expected and unexpected experiences. Some of those experiences I will be sharing soon.

Until then I’m continuing with bringing you Sundays in Style and I’m starting with this tulle skirt ensemble. Just something about wearing tulle that makes me feel even more like the princess that I am. Especially on a Sunday when I’m going before the king with heart and worship!

Blessings,

Vidia

Sunglasses: Marc Jacobs | Top: Mossimo (Target) | Jeans: Calvin Klein | Boots: Nordstrom Rack

Ok so I thought I’d give y’all a freebie of who I dressed up as today. My daughter said no one would be able to guess, Vidia. Ring a bell for anyone? Well she is the wind fairy from Tinker Bell movies but with the lighting from today’s shoot dressing as Iridessa (the light fairy) would have been more fitting!

I chose Vidia for the colors. She has the darkest wardrobe of them all. Wearing darker colors is one of the easiest ways to dress for Autumn. It can take away half your time getting ready of you start with color, just FYI. Wearing boots is another easy investment into a fall outfit and I’ll talk a tiny bit about that tomorrow.

Until then we will be cuddling to Tinker Bell on repeat because now Camrielle loves the movie too. And how cute is Camrielle photo bombing? SOOO cute!

Blessings,

A blushing date night

Lipstick: LipSense | Necklace: Macy’s | Top: Nordstrom Rack | Jeans: Nordstrom | Heels: Nordstrom Rack

Date nights are becoming more frequent in our life. I am so thankful for this season. Being a military family we can be separated often. However, when Jake is on his normal schedule, it allows for us to really set time apart for family and each other. Family was the reason why we rarely dated during our time in Miami. We only trusted family to watch our daughter and they were back in California. We did make close friends, (framily, as we love to call them) who we would entrust with our child but at that time we still struggled with accepting help. Family is still in California and we are now in Texas. We have been blessed to have made more friends who have now become framily! We also have becoming more comfortable with asking for help with the girls so we can enjoy a few hours to ourselves. It’s an amazing thing to see how God has blessed us with a great tribe who invest in  our lives but especially in our marriage.

Marriage is priceless treasure of life and today I am so happy to be spending time alone with Jake. We are headed to a concert. It is something we have never done together. Venturing out of the usual dinner and movie zone is a commitment we recently made. We have decided to plan dates of things we have never done, together. We are working on a blog post just about that so check back soon.

Dressing up together is another favorite part of marriage that I love. It doesn’t come close to getting dressed up with girlfriends but it’s pretty darn close! Jacob enjoys cleaning up and giving his input about my looks. I am so blessed to be partnered with someone who takes pleasure in dressing well. I would love Jacob regardless of what he wore because his heart for Jesus and others is what “caught” me but I really do admire his love of fashion too. He is a man who give his honest opinion with what I wear. He isn’t afraid to tease me or make me blush.

This blush ensemble says relaxed. The color evokes a calming spirit and these jeans I just love. They are extremely comfortable. Yes, even my heels are comfy. They are Valentino knock offs. I paid $20 for them versus the $1,000 price tag for the real pair.

As I write this blog post I am am very relaxed. In just a few hours I will be even more relaxed. I’ll be worshipping alongside my husband and some amazing musician/artists at the Outcry Festival.

Blessings,

D

Lyianna and Camrielle,

We love you. We pray that one day (maybe even now) you will look back and remember the times dad and mom took time away from you to pour into our marriage. These times are precious to us. We hope it has encouraged you to set time apart not only for your first husband, God, but also your future husband.

love,

Mini Me Monday: Smiles

Girl bow: Target | Toddler Bow: Little Poppy Co | Dresses/Romper: Old Navy | Heels: Jessica Simpson & Disney | Toddler Shoes: Native

Mini Me Monday is here y’all. Photographing us girls in matching outfits is my favorite. It has never been this exact either. Surprisingly, (and thankfully!) I found these dresses and this romper last year while on vacation with family. On our family vacations there is always shopping! We decided to stop and look around an outlet Old Navy. It’s always just looking, right? Yeah right! Boy am I sure glad we did a little more than looking. Purchasing these mommy and me outfits has become a gift that keeps on giving. It has brought so many smiles every time we have worn this. I bet you are even smiling right now too!

Lyianna and Camrielle, I can’t tell you enough that the best thing you can ever wear is a smile. You may not remember but I will always remember, so let me tell you. When we wear these matching outfits we get a lot of sweet and encouraging remarks. We make a lot of people smile. I know fashion can be vain but when you have the right heart and context it can be a tool to bring joy. Lyianna, you ask me almost daily if we can wear the same thing and beg to wear these snow white high heels everywhere. You crack your daddy and me up. Camrielle, you love shoes too! You don’t talk a lot quite yet but you sure do know how to say shoes! Girls, thank you for making a mundane thing as getting you dressed everyday fun. Thank you for loving this as much as me even if it is just for right now. When you read this I know you will be smiling. I love you.

Blessings,

Mini Me Monday

My Dress: Free People | Girl Dress: Nordstrom Rack | Toddler Dress: DKNY

Happy Monday y’all! It’s been a while since we have posted a tripple take. It is a tiny bit more challenging to match two daughters but we did it! Lyianna had her end of pre-k ceremony and wanted to wear this dress but also have Camrielle and I match. I think we pulled it off what do you think?

I love moments like this because not only is it fun for us girls but it is also very special. The dress Camrielle is wearing is the same dress Lyianna used to wear. I think I will save this dress for possible future granddaughters. I hope one day they can look back at this documented “outfit of the day” and smile with joy because it is their mother and aunt wearing it. This is why I like to blog …

God bless,

Mini Miami Dress

Sunglasses: Steve Maddden | Dress: Missguided | Clutch: Aldo | Heels: Nordstrom Rack

Good morning from Orlando! I know you are probably thinking, Orlando? Weren’t you just in Miami? Yes, I was! Originally Miami was why we came to Florida because we had a good friend that was graduating. The weekend was also Mother’s Day so we decided to dedicate our second daughter there too. This is one of the many reasons we love being part of a larger church. There are different campuses that you can attend which really helps with traveling. If there isn’t a campus where you are there is always watching service online during your trip!

Our trip to Miami was a quick two-day visit. We squeezed so much in those two days and one of my favorites was a girl’s night out! (Thank you sweet husband of mine!) Once our girls night was planned I knew exactly what I was wearing, this dress. When I first saw it I instantly thought of Miami. It was a moment of sentiment that turned into excitement because it was on sale for $7.48! I didn’t need this dress and certainly couldn’t see myself wearing it in Texas but figured I would use it at some point during our travels. How could I not buy it, especially when it cost so little?!

As fate would have it, I wore this Miami looking dress, in Miami.

How did the girl’s night go? Well, let’s just say it was a beloved night out that only Latinas can have …

God Bless,

Cinco de Mayo Inspired

If it was not for my blog I would not know what day it was because as a stay at home mother that’s just how it goes. However, I have had tomorrow in mind for sure, Cinco de Mayo! All that to say Happy hump day! It is almost the weekend and a good weekend at that, lol

I am not Mexican but was born and raised in California where they have the best Mexican food (next to Mexico of course) and so that is where my love of the Mexican culture began. It is my favorite food. I have half sisters and many friends who are Mexican and they are some of the best people I know.  However, since my trip to San Antonio my love only grew with the culture and specifically with their fashion. After touring The Alamo, my family and I took a look around the gift shop for the usual keepsake. As I was checking out I looked up and in a glass case this beauty was just sitting there in all its glory. I had to have it! Thinking it was going to be hundreds of dollars I nervously ask the price. To my amazement it was only fifty dollars!

I typically do not spend that much money on any one item (ok maybe my shoes… ) but once I saw that it was a handcrafted piece made in Mexico I couldn’t pass up this deal. The tag even depicted the artisan’s name, Josefina y Paco. When paying for it I couldn’t help but wonder if the artisans would be just as excited that their beautiful art of this hand crafted clutch was sold. I love to support small business and the rising designers/companies. Purchasing this Mariposa Lupita Clutch does just that. Oh and if you click the link you can actually find it for an even better price than I did!

This clutch is one of those unexpected purchases that will become a staple piece and a gift that keeps on giving. I see myself using it through all seasons of the year. What better time than to bring my Cinco de Mayo inspired look today?

God bless,

d

Sunday Kimono

Happy Sunday! So glad it is Sunday and I’m home. I am so happy to be home and relax. I also chose a more relaxed look for church today. I typically don’t wear sandals or shoes to church because I prefer heels. However, I had a reader request a less dressy church look, specifically without heels. I substituted these jeweled sandals for heels and made a plain dress pop with a patterned and colorful kimono. I did still choose to wear heels to church and switched into these for the rest of the day. I hope this helps you!

Enjoy the rest of you weekend!

It’s day seven of the famous Fiesta here in San Antonio, Texas and we are enjoying the celebration. It has been a beautifully cultured experience for my little family. Last night we were serenaded by Mariachi bands at dinner. Many of you have experienced this but this was unique because the bands were on boats floating by on the river, known as the Ford Mariachi Festival.

You may least expect it when traveling but fashion is just a huge part of life even on vacation. I packed my bags with my own style but have been so inspired by the cultural fashion on this trip. The Mexican and Spanish sophistication here is so traditional and colorful that I have to endeavor by brightening up my wardrobe.

I have started with this Mariachi sombrero. It literally took me about an hour to decide on a color! To know me is to know that if I truly like something, I want it in every color. Guess what? I want one in every color, lol. This iconic hat is a statement piece in itself but with this shade of fuchsia it just pops that much more.

Have a great day,

Many of you have probably already seen via my Instagram feed that I was blessed to go to an NBA playoff game. Vacationing here in San Antonio I was able to cross off another basketball game bucketlist by cheering on the Spurs. Having also been a cheerleader back in my youth there was no thinking twice about having fashionable team spirit. It made for a night of comfort and fun! Anyone else enjoying the playoffs? I want to see so tag me for fun @sundayinstyle! Thanks for reading and enjoy your week!
