Feature Friday: Madison

I created this blog as a photographic diary for my girls to look back on. I love that I can combine my love of photography and fashion while fulfilling my desire of writing to my girls. This is my way of sharing our life as we move all around the world and grow up together. I enjoy sharing with them (and y’all!) what we wear and why but I also love to share what else I am passionate about.

I am passionate about my friends. I have been blessed and favored with some of the amazing women and husband God has placed in my life no matter the time or season. My mother taught me at very young age that if I wanted to have good friends then I needed to be a good friend first. She told me a simple way to start was by treating others the way I would want to be treated. She then shared a verse. Luke 6:31.” do unto others as you would have them do to you.” In a world that says to put ourselves first this wisdom is going against the grain. Friendship can be work but rewarding. Each month I will be featuring a rewarding friendship in my life.

Today, for my first feature I am introducing y’all to someone super amazing!  I’m constantly asked if I have paparazzi or a professional photographer following me around. I do! I hired a photographer. Her name is Madison and as your compliments prove, her photography is outstanding. The pictures above are some of her work. What is the big deal? Isn’t that job of a professional photographer? To take great photos? Yes. So why is my photographer being featured as an inspiration in my life? Because she is ten years old.

Ok y’all can pick your jaws back up but you don’t have to stop smiling. I’m not! Of all the people I could feature Madison had to be first. She is the reason this blog works and is successful. I have to give honor where honor is due. Yet, she is as humble as they come. So she would never brag ( unless it’s with her family, of course!) about her work. Before I realized that Madison had a photographer’s eye she was already inspiring. She is the oldest of five children in her family. Her siblings are ages seven, five, three and one. They are her world which can be a little loud, chaotic at times and always moving but she never ceases to put them first. Next to her radiating love of family her soul exudes her love for Jesus. She is one genuinely caring girl because she works to exemplify Jesus’ way of loving. Her focus is always on bettering herself and the desire to help others. These mature and intellectual conversations I have with Madison always leave me truly inspired to be a better person, daughter, mother and friend. And because she is a good friend she agreed to and had permission from her mother to be interviewed. Enjoy listening to a girl who we are blessed to have as role model to our girls and as an example of great parenting.

Me: “When did you first know you loved photography?”

Madison: ” I can’t remember the exact moment but I just always loved taking pictures and I was always asking my mom to take photos.”

Me: When did you first realize that you had an ‘eye’ for photography? In other words, when did you know you were talented?”

Madison: “When I asked to take photos at a tulip festival. I was asking my brother to do a pose and then took the photo. It came out better than I expected. I was like wow.”

Me: ” What is your favorite thing about photography?”

Madison: ” Traveling from place to place to take the photos. ”

Me: ” What is your goal in photography?”

Madison: ” To learn more and get better. I want to go to school for photography also really want to use my talent to help people. ”

Me: You are young but really talented with a paid dream job. So how would you encourage/help other young kids with dreams? You have the opportunity to say something right now. What would you like to say?”

Madison: ” I would say, don’t let your age get in the way of you fulfilling your dreams. I would tell them that if this is really what you want to do, if you are sure you want to start this in your life then tell your parents. Talk to them because I bet they’ll understand. Ask them if there is a way to begin towards your dream.

Me: “What is your biggest dream, Madison?”

Madison: ” To one day open up my own photography business. I would also really like to own a blog where I can take photos of restaurants and write reviews on the food, places and stuff like that.”

Me: “Who inspires you and why?”

Madison: ” my cousin. She is sixteen and she has always inspired me. She is there for me and helps me. She can turn any bad situation upside down and find the good.”

I pray that you have been inspired today and think about inspiring others, especially our next generation.

“Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.”

Thank you for reading!

Lyianna and Camrielle, I know how much you love Madison and how she has become a big sister to you. I’m so grateful for this. I pray that you both see the importance of loving others, first. I hope I have done my job well and instilled in you the desire to cultivate good and God-fearing friendships. When you think of me you do remember the beautiful friendships I have or had? If so, know that I was intentional in being a good friend and they exemplified Jesus’ model of friendship. Most importantly, I know one day we will be even better friends than we are now. I love you with all my heart. – Mom
