Mini Me Monday: Gift from Above

Onsie: Hope Outfitters | Shorts: Target | Shoes: Converse

Camrielle is bringing joy and truth on this Monday. She is rocking the cutest onsie from her current wardrobe. I picked this graphic onsie for her because of the validity it speaks  to motherhood. No matter how expected or unexpected, how easy or difficult the process  to conceive and bear a child, that child is a gift. A beautiful from God.

Now God has a sense of humor. He knew us parents would need a onsie for our children to wear. Not just any onsie but one that reminded us of this truth when that precious gift isn’t behaving so wonderfully, am I right?

For example, I was reminded to be patient and flexible when attempting to take these photos of Camrielle. She was not cooperative and so I was about to give up. Thankfully our precious gift number one, Lyianna, took over and captured the essence of Camrielle’s spirit. A sister is all you need sometimes!

Help another child in need by purchasing this onsie, here, (or other apparel here) because 100% of the profits go to a good cause. That current campaign is Mercy Ships. Read more here. I’ll even help you out! Use code SUNDAYINSTYLE777 for an extra 10% off!

Camrielle and Lyianna,

You have gifted our life with, faith, hope, love, joy, goodness and even comical mischief! We love you so much. We don’t take you for granted. We hope you still see and know this. – mom

I wore this yellow dress today to kick off my week full of yellow everything. So get ready to see how I will attempt to make yellow fun, comfortable but also stylish for this active and Jesus filled experience. There will be no mellow yellow here …

Wednesday Work

Sunglasses: Kate Spade | Top: Nordstrom Rack | Shorts: Nordstrom Rack | Sandals: Target

I love being a wife and mother. These two roles in my life are a privilege and joy. Both require work, a lot of work. The first year in marriage and motherhood were really tough but especially my first year as a mom. We had endured so much loss before our first daughter that we had to work hard at having faith. It was all we focused on. I also had lived in quite a bit of fear so I never read books or really prepared for being a mom, out of said fear. When our first daughter was born all I was so over joyed and deeply grateful. However, I had no clue what I was doing those first few months. It was that whole not preparing and believing, lol. I definitely didn’t know how to take care of her and me. I basically spent the first year in pajamas. I put no work into how i presented myself. The few extra minutes I had, I would choose sleep over time to do my hair and makeup. I’ve come quite a way since then. Now I get dressed and brush my hair about twice a week. Just kidding, I’m at three days! Insert a wink here.

Wednesday is one of the two days where the girls are in summer school and I have time to get things done. I basically try to run all of my errands one of those two days. Everything I need to get done today is inside stores where I find myself always cold. This is why I’m wearing a super light sweater in the middle of summer. The cut off shorts balance it out and are super comfy. I basically live in these shorts lately because they are that comfortable.

Well, I’m off to work now …

Happy hump day y’all and thanks for reading!

Lyianna and Camrielle,

I just want you to know that I am grateful for you. I love you so much and you bring so much joy. These precious moments away from you are amazing but nothing in comparison to when I’m with you. Just know this needed space makes me miss you more. One day you two will be mothers and I will be the one watching your children so you can have this sacred space. Until then, thank you for being two girls who are ok with this! I love you.  – mom

Tuesday Morning Princess

Necklace: Macy’s | Dress: Nordstrom Rack | Heels: Nordstrom Rack

The great thing about planning what to wear for any amount of time is that you don’t have to stress about it the day of. I am speaking from my current experience. Today I am wearing what I was supposed to wear on Sunday for church. I never made it to church because we over slept.

I woke up today after an amazing night of sleep and feel so good. In fact, I feel like royalty. Oh wait I am! I am daughter to the King of all kings. In a few hours I will be going to bible study where there just happens to be more daughters of the King. I’m going to dress up!

This dress could pass as a modern-day princess right? There is royal in the blue heels and I’ve adorned myself with these gems. Remembering  who’s I am today in this will be easy.

Mini Me Monday: Graphic Tees

Sunglasses: Old Navy | T-shirt: Hope Outfitters | Skirt: Target | Sandals: Old Navy

Can I just talk about how cute these graphic tees from Hope Outfitters are?! I love them. Ok, now can we talk about how cute my daughters are? I love them even more! Lyianna, (our five-year old ) has been reading for a bit now and was very excited that she could read this t-shirt we gifted her. Once she realized what it said she jumped in joy.  This is her favorite song. As if that wasn’t sweet enough she continued to thank me for giving her a t-shirt she could tell people about Jesus with. My heart just melted. This I know, Lyianna is one of the sweetest and most thoughtful little girls. She really has a big heart and loves easily.

Some of the easiest moments with Lyianna are singing. Since she was in the womb Jacob and I would sing her this song. It is apparently engraved in her heart now and that makes me so blessed. Teaching her she is loved by Jesus is the most valuable truth I can impart on her. We are also doing our best to teach her to love others as Jesus loves her. So we took this opportunity to encourage her to tell people about Jesus but also to share how much more this shirt is reaching others through the love of Jesus. We explained to her that because we bought this shirt all the money from the sale is going to an organization that helps give life saving surgeries to other kids around the world. Do you know what she asked me? If she could buy one with her own money. See how easy it is to love her!?

What better gift than speaking the truth that Jesus love me, her and everyone? There isn’t anything better in life than that. I am just so grateful for wonderful companies who model this hope. Hope Outfitters probably doesn’t even know that they are reaching hearts right at home. Has your heart been touched? Do you want to follow in Lyianna’s example and purchase a shirt too!? Then click here for her exact shirt and here to see others. Also because we love you too, use my code SUNDAYINSTYLE777 for an extra 10% off! You are so very welcome.

You are one little fireball of love. You are only five but have already been used greatly by God. He has used you in my life, daddy’s, your sisters, family, friends and others you grace with your energy. You have loved this song since you were in the womb. This song actually was the first precious and comical memory with you and your tia, Giselle. She came from Seattle to Miami one time to spend time with us and you. You were only three months old! She was a blessing by sending us off for a date night. We told her to sing you this song if she needed to calm you down or put you to sleep. She told me that she wouldn’t be singing that song and I said ok. We came home and she was standing there with you in her arms sound asleep. She was also singing Jesus Loves Me just under her breath with a happily defeated look on her face, lol. I hope that today however old you are that you still believe this truth. I pray that it is still something you want to share with others. I love you. – mommy

Sports tee & cut-off shorts in Wyoming

Sunglasses: Kate Spade | Top: Forever 21 | Shorts: Nordstrom | Shoes: Converse (linker here)

Morning! It’s the weekend and that means rest and relaxation. Our family has accomplished this well. I have loved our nonchalant state of minds this trip. Our experiences this vacation have been laid back and unexpected. I’m so happy that I was dressed casually. This is becoming less and less of a challenge for me.

A casual look doesn’t have to be boring. You can easily spruce up a t-shirt and jeans look with making it sporty. The football inspired stripes on this top give it that extra characteristic. The ripped cut-off shorts ( half off here) are just so much more fun. And the shoes? Well they made this look collective. I’ve linked my exact pair above in the photo caption and another similar pair for less here.

I’m officially ready for our last day full of adventure!

Thanks for reading!

Shoes speak louder than words

Sunglasses: Marc Jacobs | T-Shirt: Nordstrom Rack | Shorts: Nordstrom Rack | Nike Slides: Nordstrom Rack

What is the first word that comes to mind when you look at a pair of shoes? Cute, want, love, and ew are a few of the words that come first to my mind. My next thoughts are usually about how comfortable or uncomfortable the pair will be. Of course, looking at the price then leads me to whether I will try then on or not.

More times than not I I’m drawn to purchase a pair of shoes for their fashion statement rather than their coziness. Once I try them on and walk around the store in them for a bit I finalize my decision. All the shoes I own not only speak to style but are also agreeable with my biomechanics.

My body loves when I wear these Nike slides especially while on this road trip of a vacation. They are so quick to slide on and off and right that is perfect for getting in and out of a car. These may be my “mom shoes” but they are stylish too! When I first saw these slides I thought “love”, “want” and “please”. I tried them on and knew they would speak to what real motherhood for me is. Being relaxed and ready for whatever my girls may bring to the day. Being put together and strutting around in heels is for Sundays and dates. Oh yeah and girl’s night out, lol.

What’s even better is that they are right on point with price. I bought them for under $25! I couldn’t find them online to link for y’all but as of yesterday they are in store over at Nordstrom Rack. Happy shopping!

Monday Mini Me Florals

My Dress: Nordstrom Rack | Heels: Nordstrom Rack & Girls Dresses: Target

Today we have yesterday’s Sunday look. Now we don’t match exactly but close enough. This is my third time wearing my dress since spring. It is fair to say I love it. I fell for what an enjoyable fit it is and that it is effortless to style. The floral print is a statement in itself. To dress it up for church I paired it with my favorite white heels. I know I can just as easily wear this dress with a pair of sandals too and feel just as put together. The girls dresses I found at Target. As soon as I saw them I wanted them. For little girls you don’t see the sheath dress too often. You typically see the sun or jumper style in dresses. I also love it is something they can wear in the fall so hopefully we don’t have too big of growth spurts, right?

Today was super fun but relaxing. After going to church we changed of course and headed out with our sweet cousins Trisha and Cesar. We enjoyed an hour drive up into the mountains and had a nice picnic. We did a super mini hike and enjoyed the breathtaking views. It was a little nerve wrecking trying to allow our girls the freedom to play but it warmed my heart to see them so happy. They really had fun collecting rocks and throwing branches around.

Once back down the mountain we enjoyed listening ( and a little dancing ) to jazz music at a city park. It was a soothing and sweet way to end our beautiful day.

Lounging to the Maxi

Sunglasses: Marc Jacobs | Dress: Nordstrom Rack | Sandals: Target

Like why I did with the title there !? Seriously though wearing this maxi made lounging around that much better. This maxi dress is made of muslin material which is very light and breathable. This fabric is perfect for summer especially if you are going to brave the extra length. I love it so much that I bought it in three more colors!

We spent our first day in Colorado Springs at The Broadmoor Hotel. It is a beautiful five star hotel with all the luxuries you can imagine. It is nestled at the foot of the mountains which provide breathtaking views. My husband found so much joy watching how wowed us girls were. They really designed a hotel that compels you to breathe slower and truly relax. Relaxing after a twelve hour road trip was exactly what we needed. Time spent swimming, eating pastries and laughing was my favorite luxury of our stay here.

Rooftop Pool Reflections

Hat: Target | Sunglasses: Kate Spade | Swimsuit: Marshalls

I love being a wife and I love being a mother. Both are my greatest blessings. I can honestly attest to loving my life. I love that I have daughters for children and I love my completely opposite of me husband. Taking care of them brings me so much joy. It also brings some of the biggest adversities I have ever encountered in my thirty three years. The biggest challenge I have encountered is the time to take care of me. I’m only eight years into marriage and only five into motherhood so I’m learning. I’m pretty sure I’ll always still be learning too. Right now the most important lesson I have learned is to take time for me.
Time for me, alone, is deeply desired yet so difficult to accomplish. To leave the house without the girls and husband seems easy right? Just get in the car and drive anywhere away from your house. Who else day dreams about the husband walking through the door and simultaneously you are walking out all the while yelling freedom!? Then you wake up and finish stirring the meal, sweeping the dirt or folding that never ending pile of laundry. Yeah me too. In my home the minute Jake walks through the door I experience the most precious and priceless moments I will treasure for eternity. Jake walks through the door and our girls throw him a very excited, screaming as loud as they can while running into his arms welcoming home party. Every single day. Who wants to miss that or the smile on his face that he has arrived to his safe haven from his hectic world? Yeah me either. So when do I go?
I go on Saturday mornings while my little family sleeps in. I’m an early rise and apparently the only one in our family. I have found my God given time for me. Just me. Of course every now and then I want to share my sweet window of time with a friend. That’s what I did this last Saturday. A friend and I enjoyed five hours of lounging by a pool on the rooftop of a nice hotel. I took that nap I couldn’t get in all week and enjoyed meaningful conversation. I even got into that bathing suit, finally!

Lyianna & Camrielle, no matter how busy life gets , take time to step aside and have moments of solitude. I really hope that I have modeled this well. Taking care of you enables you to take better care of others. I love you.
